Summary
YouTube TV will now offer a new multiview experience for some channels, expanding outside of sports.
Subscribers can create their own multiview experience with popular national channels like ESPN.
Future plans include adding local channels to multiview and an “Always-On” mode.
Paid streaming services were once a great, affordable alternative to traditional cable and satellite TV. But we’re now looking at record prices, which means brands need to offer more in order to keep subscribers happy. Thankfully, YouTube TV has been pretty good at this, delivering some solid additions over the past couple of years, perhaps making it worthwhile for those paying the $83/month price tag.

While YouTube TV has had multiview available for sporting events, it appears that it is now making it available for other channels as well, with YouTube sharing the news through Reddit (via 9to5Google). While it’s still in the early stages, subscribers will now have the ability to create their own multiview viewing experience using a select number of channels.
A new way to enjoy your shows
During the initial phase, users will have the option to choose from popular national channels like ESPN, Bravo, and USA. Over time, YouTube TV will expand to local channels, but this is something that will happen months from now. The good news is that you can give this a try if you’re a current subscriber. But the company share that it’s slowly rolling out, so if you don’t see it yet, don’t panic.
As for future plans, YouTube did share that an “Always-On” multiview is in the works, which will be a collection of “local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC channels”. Of course, feedback is important here, as the ideas and problems mentioned will no doubt shape the way this rolls out in the future. For the most part, not a bad addition to the service.
As mentioned before, YouTube TV has drastically increased its prices over the past few years, with the service now costing $83/month. This is the most expensive streaming service out right now, and while you can share the service with up to five family members, this is still quite a bit to pay considering the times.
