If you’re a content creator on YouTube, you might be feeling a bit frustrated right now. It seems like many YouTubers are experiencing problems uploading new content to the platform. Reports are flooding in that creators are currently unable to upload both those snappy Shorts and their longer, more in-depth videos. Google has now confirmed the ongoing outage on YouTube, which is preventing the upload of new videos.
There are no specific details, but Google says that the YouTube team is actively investigating what’s going on behind the scenes.
Outage preventing uploading new videos to YouTube
Usually, YouTube runs like a well-oiled machine. As the most popular video platform on the planet, it handles a truly staggering amount of traffic every single day. Every day, millions of people simultaneously watch videos and upload their own creations without any issues. This massive activity is typically no problem for Google’s powerful servers. However, today seems to be a different story.
According to the widespread reports, the current outage on YouTube is preventing channel owners from getting their new videos onto the platform. Apparently, the upload process is getting stuck at various stages. In some cases, uploads are freezing right at the very beginning, not even making it past 0%. Others are reporting that the process gets stuck during the “suitability” check. This is when YouTube’s system analyzes the video’s content.
This issue doesn’t seem to be limited to just one way of uploading either. Creators are reporting problems whether they’re trying to upload through the YouTube website on their computers or using the YouTube Studio apps on their smartphones. At this point, it’s unclear whether this is a massive outage affecting all creators across the board or if it’s impacting a specific group or region. Either way, the official @TeamYouTube account on X/Twitter is still getting complaints.
Let’s all hope that Google’s engineers can get to the bottom of this and resolve the issue soon. The halting of video uploads can significantly disrupt the schedules of many content creators.
