The HONOR 400 5G and HONOR 400 Pro 5G smartphones have been officially announced. The ‘Pro’ model is considerably more powerful, while the company also announced their price tags. Read more about both of these mid-rangers below.
HONOR has just announced two new smartphones, the HONOR 400 5G and HONOR 400 Pro 5G. Well, the HONOR 400 Lite was technically also announced for Europe and the UK, but this is not its initial announcement. That phone originally launched last month. So, we’ll focus mostly on the HONOR 400 and HONOR 400 Pro.
The HONOR 400 series has just dropped, offering great value
Both of these phones are more powerful than the HONOR 400 Lite. They’re a part of the company’s mid-range lineup, though the difference between them is considerable. The HONOR 400 Pro is notably more powerful in comparison. Let’s talk about the designs first, though.
These two phones are similar in terms of design, but not identical. The HONOR 400 Pro is a bit larger, while it has a pill-shaped cutout on the front. The HONOR 400 has a single display camera hole. Also, the HONOR 400 Pro has an extra camera on the back, so three in total.
Both smartphones have a flat display, a flat backplate, and a flat frame all around. Their physical buttons sit on the right-hand side, and have a similar placement too. There is also an IR blaster at the top of both phones.
AI is the buzzword here too
HONOR put a great focus on AI in its announcement. Mentioning AI camera, AI image editing, AI image sharing, and more. The HONOR 400 Pro has a 200-megapixel main camera, with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size and an f/1.9 aperture. Both OIS and EIS are supported here.
A 12-megapixel ultrawide camera is also included here with a 112-degree FoV. That one is also used for macro photography. The last camera on the back is a 50-megapixel portrait camera with an f/2.0 aperture. HONOR says that this phone can provide “professional-grade selfies with stunning detail and lifelike colors.”
The phone also supports “AI image editing capabilities”. The “AI image to video” from Google Cloud “enables users to explore different possibilities of image generation,” says HONOR. AI Eraser, AI Outpaining, AI Erase passery-by, and AI Remove Reflection features are also available.
Both smartphones ship with Android 15 out of the box
Android 15 comes pre-installed here, along with MagicOS 9.0. A 5,300mAh battery sits inside of this phone, a silicon-carbon battery. The phone offers either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage and supports 100W wired charging.
A 6.7-inch display sits on it, with a 5,000-nit peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor fuels this phone, while you’re also getting 12GB of RAM here. HONOR also promised 6 years of software updates for both of these devices.
The HONOR 400, on the other hand, has a 5,300mAh battery too, but with 66W charging. A 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED display sits on the front, with the same brightness as the ‘Pro’ sibling.
The vanilla HONOR 400 is notably less powerful than its ‘Pro’ sibling
The weaker Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip is used here, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 200-megapixel main camera is used here along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit. The phone ships with Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0.
The HONOR 400 Lite is priced at €299, while the HONOR 400 5G costs either €499 or €549, depending on whether you get a 256GB or 512GB model. The HONOR 400 Pro 5G will set you back €799.
