Xiaomi’s next-gen smartphone, the Xiaomi 16, has been subject to many leaks and rumors for some time now. Back in March, rumors hinted that the smartphone would come with an increased size. Additionally, a leaked CAD render of the Xiaomi 16 gave us the first look at the rumored dual-tone design. Now, details about the Xiaomi 16’s SoC, battery, camera, and more have been leaked, courtesy of a reliable Weibo tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS).
Xiaomi 16 leaked specs hint at Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, bigger battery & more
According to a Weibo post from DCS, the Xiaomi 16 will pack Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and a bigger battery. The company has yet to unveil the chipset. But it has officially confirmed that it will land on September 23, 2025. So, it’s safe to say that the Xiaomi 16 will be the first phone to feature the upcoming flagship chipset.
Interestingly, the Xiaomi 16 will likely come with a battery capacity of over 6,500mAh. Well, that’s a significant bump, considering the Xiaomi 15’s 5,400mAh battery. On the display front, the Xiaomi 16 will likely flaunt a 6.3-inch flat OLED display with very thin bezels across all four sides. Talking of software, the Xiaomi 16 will boot Android 16-based HyperOS 3.0.
Besides battery details, the tipster has also leaked some of the camera details of the Xiaomi 16. The smartphone will feature a trio of 50-megapixel sensors, featuring a 1/1.3-inch primary sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a telephoto lens with macro support.
The device could launch globally
We expect Xiaomi to debut the 16 series with a bigger battery right after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC. The vanilla model, which is the Xiaomi 16, will likely launch in China and global markets. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 16 Pro could be exclusive to the Chinese market. Speaking of the Pro model, recent leaks have hinted that the device could come with major camera and display upgrades.
