Xbox Games Are Currently The Top Pre-Orders On Sony’s PS5

Contents
Summary: Two of the most popular Xbox games are currently the top-sellers in the US PlayStation Store for pre-orders on PS5. This showcases that Microsoft’s strategy for porting over exclusives was a smart decision. As it’s proving to be a successful strategy.
If you hop over to the US PlayStation Store for PS5 games, you might be surprised to see that the four best-selling titles are pre-orders for Xbox games. Specifically, the pre-orders for the premium and standard editions of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5.
Forza Horizon 5 has been available on Xbox and PC since 2021. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, meanwhile, was released last December. Both games have been delighting fans since their release, but those who play strictly on PlayStation have had to avoid both because there was no way to play them on a PlayStation console.
That will all change soon. These aren’t the first Xbox games to come to the PlayStation platform. Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves all launched on PS5 back in 2024. Sea of Thieves is also doing fairly well on PSN, being on the third page of the Browse All Games list when you sort by best-selling. Mind you, this is out of 417 pages of games. Suffice it to say, PlayStation fans are excited to dive into games coming from the Xbox side of things. As they should be, because the games are pretty good.
Xbox games topping the PS5 best-selling list show that Microsoft was right to port them over
Microsoft has been pretty vocal about the fact that its hardware isn’t going anywhere. However, it’s also been very clear that its strategy for releasing games going forward is changing. One might even say significantly, as bringing exclusive titles to another platform is never really something that’s been done before the past few years.
That being said, with Indiana Jones and Forza 5 topping the PS5 charts for pre-orders, it’s a clear indication that Microsoft was right to port the games over. This is no doubt going to benefit Microsoft in a big way as more people get to enjoy the games. And Microsoft will surely make a considerable sum from the expanded sales. Even if Sony ends up getting a cut for selling through PSN. It’s also worth noting that between Indiana Jones and Forza 5, the premium versions, both of which cost $99.99, are the more popular versions.
It’s not just the US PlayStation Store
One could argue that this wouldn’t be that impressive if it were just the PlayStation Store in the US. However, that isn’t the case. According to posters on ResetEra, both games are topping the pre-order charts on PSN in Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and other EU countries. In short, PlayStation players are just happy to have more great games to play. Regardless of which platform they originated on.
