Where To Buy The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 And 5090

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be going on sale on January 30 at 6AM PT, and for those who are looking to take the plunge and spend the money for the upgrade, you’ll have several options where to spend your hard-earned cash. NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs were officially announced during CES 2025. As usual, not all of the GPUs in the new generation will be making their debut this week.

Rather, the RTX 5070, and RTX 5070 Ti won’t be available until later this year. NVIDIA says it plans to begin selling those two graphics cards in February. So the wait won’t be long. And with the RTX 5070 promising RTX 4090 performance (with the DLSS 4 frame generation tech), the $549 price tag might be what many are waiting for. That being said, the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 will most certainly provide better rasterization performance without DLSS 4, and markedly better with it.

So if you have the extra cash in your budget, you might want to go for one of these two more powerful cards instead. If you aren’t sure where to buy, you should be able to find the cards at the usual suspects. Of course, you can try your hand at waiting in line at a physical store for one as well. Places like Best Buy will probably have stock. Micro Center will definitely have stock, though everything is set up on a randomized voucher system and people are already waiting in line. If you want to skip all that, there are plenty of places to buy online as well.

Increasing your chances of getting a GPU

As is always the case with these things, stock is going to be somewhat limited at most retailers on launch day. To increase your chances of getting a GPU, you’ll want to make sure and do a few things. The first and most important thing to do is to create accounts at every retailer where you plan to buy an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080. You’ll also want to add payment methods to those accounts. If you already have accounts, then make sure you’re logged in well ahead of the listings going live. We’d recommend about an hour beforehand.

It’s also not a bad idea to hardwire your PC if it isn’t hardwired already. The last thing you want is to have the Wi-Fi signal die on you, even for a brief second during the purchasing process. Another good idea is to have a secondary (and maybe a third) device to log into these accounts on. This way you can have multiple pages up without having to jump between tabs. Some retailers may also have queues, so be prepared to wait in line with other buyers.

As mentioned above there will be several retailers carrying stock of these GPUs. Not all of the stock will be the same, however. Best Buy, for example, only currently has listings for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition cards.

Amazon will more than likely have stock of GPUs from NVIDIA’s partners, such as ASRock, ASUS, MSI, Zotac, and others. Newegg and B&H Photo should be in similar positions. Of course, you can buy from NVIDIA directly as well. Also keep in mind that stock may change and stock will run out fast, too. There’s a good chance that scalpers will be trying to get their hands on as many GPUs as they can. And if they fail, there will still be a fair number of buyers trying to purchase either GPU for their own PC.

Best Buy

Best Buy has both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition cards available at the time of writing. Cards from other manufacturers will be available as well, though not necessarily right away. Listings aren’t live until 6AM PT on January 30. You will need a Best Buy account to purchase either card, so make sure to log in ahead of time.

Amazon

Amazon doesn’t currently have listings up at the time of writing this post, but stock should be filtering in. It has carried stock of both the Founders Edition cards and cards from other manufacturers from previous generations. So the new 50-Series Founders Edition cards could pop up on Amazon as well.

Newegg

Newegg already has listings up for several different GPU models of both the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080. This includes options like the ASUS ROG Astral, GIGABYTE, MSI, and Zotac models.

Naturally, you can pick the new 50-Series GPUs up directly from NVIDIA. It’s not clear how much stock NVIDIA will have, but it will only be carrying the Founders Edition cards. So if you want one that’s not a Founders Edition model, you’ll need to shop elsewhere.

Other 50-series GPU options

If you aren’t able to get your hands on one of the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 GPUs on launch day, you can always wait and try your hand at either the RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti. NVIDIA also says a number of 50-series laptops will be launching in March. There should also be pre-order options for 50-series desktops popping up as well. The results may vary from retailer to retailer, however.

It’s also worth noting that if you don’t get the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 on launch day, stock refreshes will happen. So you will want to keep an eye out for those as well.
