We Finally Know How Big The IPhone 16e’s Battery Capacity Is

Apple never advertises the battery capacity of its iPhones—the iPhone 16e is no exception. Maybe Apple thinks if they don’t tell us, we’ll never know. Nice try, Apple. But YouTuber Dave2D has already uncovered the iPhone 16e’s battery capacity in a recent video review.

When Apple announced the iPhone 16e, it boasted a new internal design that allowed for a larger battery. So just how much bigger is it? If you were hoping for an official number, Apple didn’t say. But thankfully, we didn’t have to wait for Apple to tell us.

YouTuber Dave2D did the legwork. In his review, he discovered that the iPhone 16e packs a 3,961mAh battery. And Apple wasn’t kidding—at 3,961mAh, the iPhone 16e’s battery is even larger than the iPhone 16’s 3,561mAh pack.

Does that extra capacity translate into longer battery life? According to Dave2D’s battery test—where he continuously looped Reddit’s website over WiFi—the iPhone 16e lasted 12 hours and 54 minutes.

That’s better than the iPhone 16, which clocked in at 11 hours and 17 minutes, making the 16e last more than 1.5 hours longer. It also outperformed the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and even the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which lasted 12 hours and 27 minutes. However, it couldn’t quite surpass the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which pulled ahead with 13 hours and 41 minutes.

That said, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a significantly larger 4,685mAh battery—so really, no surprises there.

Similar experiences by others

It isn’t fair to say the iPhone 16e has amazing battery life than the more expensive iPhone 16 based off a single review. Luckily, other reviewers have had similar experiences. Tom’s Guide did their own battery test and found that the iPhone 16e managed to get 12 hours and 41 minutes, pretty close to Dave2D’s review.

The folks at CNET had a similar experience. They did not share the hours and minutes. But basically, they only had to charge the phone three times during the six days they used it. This means that they only need to charge it once every two days, which is pretty good. That said, while battery life on the iPhone 16e is pretty good, Apple did have to compromise on a bunch of features to get it to be this cheap.

This includes equipping it with a single camera versus the dual cameras on the base iPhone 16. All in all, if you want an iPhone that has decent battery life that won’t break the bank, the iPhone 16e could be it.
