Summary: Walmart’s Onn brand is gearing up for the launch of a new Google TV box, called the “Onn 4K Plus.” Reviews from early testers have leaked images of packaging, in-box content, specs, and features. The Onn 4K Plus will offer 4K video output, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos support. It packs a quad-core chip with a G310 V2 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
In August last year, Google announced that it was ending the Chromecast product line production and would focus on the new Google TV Streamer. Now, it seems Walmart’s Onn brand is gearing up for the launch of another product called “Onn 4K Plus.” The upcoming streaming device will succeed last year’s Walmart Onn 4K Pro.
The specs & images of Walmart’s new Google TV box leak ahead of the official launch
Folks over at 9to5Google spotted Walmart’s new Google TV box on Home Tester Club’s website. If you visit the attached webpage, you’ll find multiple reviews of the device and images of its content and packaging. Well, it seems Walmart has released the device early for testing, with a proper launch planned for the near future.
Speaking of reviews, Walmart’s new Onn 4K Plus appears to have received positive feedback from testers. The device has been lauded for its low price and simplicity. It’s worth noting that the leaked reviews or listings don’t include the pricing of Walmart’s upcoming Google TV box.
However, we expect it to be somewhere in between the price of last year’s Walmart Onn 4K Pro ($49.88) and the standard Onn box ($19.88). The leaked reviews and images give some hints at the specs of the Walmart Onn 4K Plus box, too.
The third-party Google TV box packs a quad-core chip with a G310 V2 GPU. The outlet speculates it could be the Amlogic S905X5M—a newer chipset than the one found in Walmart’s 2024 Google TV box. Talking of features, the upcoming streaming device comes with support for 4K video output, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The streamer also comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.
The device could launch as a replacement for the current standard TV box
Here, it’s worth noting that Walmart’s Pro Google TV box comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming Google TV box from Walmart could act as a replacement for the aforementioned standard box that offers 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Do note that Walmart hasn’t officially confirmed anything about the device. However, given months’ worth of reviews, it’s safe to say that the device might be out soon.
