Walmart Rolling Out Android 14 Update For Its Google TV-Powered Onn 4K Pro

Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro is arguably the best deal in Google TV – perhaps just in streaming hardware in general – and it’s now getting an update to Android 14.

First shipping with Android 12 under the hood when it launched last year, Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro did offer one of the best experiences in a streaming box. Google TV Streamer edged it out with better hardware and a new software version, though, with Android 14 out of the box.

Walmart is now finally bringing that updated version to its own device.

As spotted by multiple users, the Onn 4K Pro is now getting an update to firmware version URO1.250103.029.A1. The changelog is brief, but confirms that this update delivers Android 14 for the Onn 4K Pro.

Users shouldn’t expect any major changes from this update, though. Android 14 for TVs was mainly focused on TV sets, but it should make everything feel a bit more snappy.

There are some fixes, and some new problems, in the update as well. Users report that issues with Dolby Vision in Netflix have been resolved, while others report that the Settings app now crashes in certain instances (behavior we also noticed with the Android 14 update on Chromecast with Google TV). A factory reset after installing the update should assist a great deal for smaller bugs and quirks.
