TiVo OS Will Arrive In The US Market With A Sharp Smart TV

The smart TV platform segment already has plenty of competition. The market is split between Roku, Android TV/Google TV, Fire TV, and even Apple’s tvOS. We also can’t forget Samsung’s Tizen, which recently received the big One UI update that transforms the user experience. TiVo OS-powered TVs will also arrive in the United States this year, as confirmed at CES 2025.

TiVo OS was born in 2022 as a platform for smart TVs that wants to facilitate the user experience and content discovery for people. It seeks to make a name for itself in a market where many have already established themselves through a modern and intuitive UI design. TiVo, the parent company of the software, claims that it supports “a wide range” of streaming services, including YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and more. It also supports personalized suggestions, which is a must-have for any smart TV OS today.

The US will receive for the first time a TiVo OS-powered smart TV

Although TiVo OS arrived in 2022, the first TVs powered by it only arrived last year. The company began its commercial journey in Europe and is now preparing to venture into the US market. TiVo has partnered with Sharp to bring a TiVo OS-powered smart TV to the US. The TV’s tech specs won’t impress you as they are pretty standard. However, it promises to offer a high-quality viewing experience.

You can create universal watchlists

The Sharp smart TV with TiVo OS is built around a 55-inch 4K QLED display. You’ll also find up to three HDMI ports, HDR, and Dolby Atmos for immersive audio with the right peripherals or accessories. In Europe, TiVo has teamed up with more brands, but it’s still unclear if the company plans to release more TVs in the US. It’s possible that TiVo will start with one model to test the waters and see if it’s worth investing resources in the US market. The company did not offer more specific details on this matter during the event.

TiVo OS has some interesting features that might catch the eye of some. It lets you create universal watchlists with content from all your streaming apps. You can also control features and search using voice commands. Plus, the TiVo+ app offers free content in a similar way to Google TV with Freeplay. We will have to wait and see if this is enough for TiVo OS to take off in the US.
