Tired Of Instagram? Try This Alternative Instead!

If you ever felt the need to cut down the noise of the outside world by uninstalling Instagram, you don’t have to worry anymore. Foto, a photography app that aims to rival Instagram, is finally available to download on Android and iOS. This comes a week after the platform announced the closure of public beta via an Instagram post– ironic, huh?

The Foto app is officially available to download on Android and iOS

Now, you must be wondering how is Foto different from Instagram. Unlike Instagram, you can only share photos in this app. One might argue—isn’t that a downgrade considering Instagram? Well, it might be for many. But, the fact that the platform is ad-free and lets you upload uncropped photos, makes it pretty unique.

If you happen to download and use the Foto app for the first time, it will give you the vibe of using Instagram from its early days. While other social media apps are overcrowded with short-video content like Reels, Foto focuses only on sharing images, at least for now. That’s not all; the photo-sharing app doesn’t even display the profile follower counts and likes counts for uploaded content.

You can search a specific term or tag to find the content you’d like to see on the platform. Not to forget, the main feed in the Foto app is chronological, meaning you can scroll back to see older images. The company says that to access additional options, you’ll have to subscribe.

You’ll need to subscribe to access all the features

While the app is free to use, the platform gives you the option to become a Foto “Ambassador.” Foto Ambassadors will join an exclusive group and be treated as Pro+ users, with the perks of creating unlimited Portfolios once the feature is available.

Ambassadors can access all the Pro+ features of the Foto app by paying a $5 per month or $50 per year subscription fee. Those not willing to pay a recurring fee can opt to pay a lifetime subscription fee of $500. Ambassadors will also get a profile badge post subscribing. Notably, the Ambassador offer will end on March 8, 2025.

Post that, the platform will update the pricing of Pro plans to $6 per month and $60 per year. Foto will also introduce a Pro+ plan after the said date that costs $10 per month and $100 per year. Moreover, Foto has also outlined a full roadmap of features that it will add to the platform down the line.
