TikTok Returns To The Google Play Store

Following a very brief ban in the United States, TikTok is once again available for download on Android via the Google Play Store.

On January 18, TikTok shut down its services in the United States as a new law banning the platform took effect. The ban, however, only lasted a few hours as the app restored services the following day. In the time since, though, the app has remained pulled from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with a message in the Play Store notifying users that the app “isn’t available.”

That’s no longer the case.

As reported by Bloomberg, TikTok has now returned to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for new Android and iOS downloads, respectively. TikTok is also alerting users to this change via the app with a pop-up.

Both Google and Apple were forced to remove TikTok from their app stores by US legislation, but a new letter from US Attorney General Pam Bondi assures the two companies that the US government would not immediately enforce a ban at this time. TikTok is currently operating under an executive order that grants 75 days to “determine the appropriate course forward.” If no new legislation is put in place, TikTok could yet again face a ban in the US in April.
