This Projector Is So Portable, It Literally Folds!
We’re on day two of CES, and we’ve already seen some pretty innovative and interesting announcements. Among the numerous projector announcements, there’s one that stands out. Aurzen took the wraps off of the ZIP at CES. This is a portable tri-fold projector that can come in handy when you’re on the go.
There are those projectors that are meant for home use only. They project the biggest, brightest, and most pixel-packed screens. However, what if you want to bring a projector out with you? Maybe you want a larger screen to watch content while you’re on a long road trip. Well, this is where portable battery-powered projectors come in.
The Aurzen ZIP takes portable projectors to the next level
While there are portable projectors on the market, their “portability” can sometimes be questionable. You can take them out with you, but they still take up a fair amount of space.
Enter Aurzen with the ZIP! This device defines portability, as it actually folds in on itself. There are three distinct sections of the device that fold in on one another to cut back on the used space.
How much space are we talking about? From the looks of the Kickstarter, picture a device not much bigger than a Galaxy Z Flip or Moto Razr when folded. It looks a bit thicker, but not much bigger in terms of length and width. It’s definitely small enough to fit in your pocket. This means that you can easily take it with you wherever you go.
The folding action doesn’t only make it more portable, but it gives the device its own kickstand. When you place it on a flat surface, you will be able to adjust the height and angle. This way, you’ll be able to adjust it to your liking.
Battery
One thing to note is that, this being a rather small device, it’s fitted with a small battery. It uses a 5,000mAh battery. That’s not small by smartphone standards, but a projector is a different beast entirely. The company guarantees up to 1.5 hours of watching time, which isn’t long by any means.
However, it supports 24W fast charging. 24W is pretty decent, and it will get it topped up in a good amount of time. Also, since it charges via a USB-C charger, you could even pair the ZIP with a portable charger.
Other features
Some of the more notable features of the ZIP are the instant auto-focus, a gyroscope so you can rotate the orientation, and Wi-Fi-free screen mirroring.
This looks like a truly great device to up your content-watching experience. If you want to share a movie or TV show with your friends, but you don’t want to crowd around your smartphone, the ZIP could be a great alternative. Also, if you need to give a presentation without dealing with a full-sized projector, you’ll love the Aurzen ZIP.
When it launches, it will retail for $399. However, if you back the Kickstarter with a $249 pledge (which is live for another 58 days), you’ll get it for that price.
