This Move Will Add Millions Of Android Games To PC

A few years ago, Google embarked on a pretty ambitious venture. It introduced Google Play Games for PC, which let you play some of your favorite Android games on your computer. Well, the company announced its biggest update ever, and gamers will love it. All Android games will be available to play on PC.

When Google Play For PC first came about, there were about 50 games to choose from, and many of them weren’t anything to write home about. However, as the platform matured, more games became available. Even though there are many more games available, it can still feel a bit claustrophobic. Even though it’s almost three years old, it’s still growing.

All Android games will land on PC

Google is about to have its Game Developers Conference next week, so we’re going to hear some amazing news from Android game developers. Ahead of the conference, Google just hit us with a pretty huge announcement. If a developer wanted their game playable on PC they would have to opt in to the program. This is one reason for the limited selection of games.

If you browse the collection now, you’ll see a couple hundred titles, and many of them are pretty well-known. However, it still pales in comparison to what you’d see if you hop onto your phone and start browsing the Play Store.

However, the opt-in policy will go away! Google will make all of the games on the Play Store available to play on PC. This means that you’ll be able to download and play millions of games to play with a good old mouse and keyboard.

Obviously, this news will make you wonder about optimization. Well, Google announced a new badge system to let you know how optimized a game is for PC. You’ll see an “Optimized” badge next to a game if it’s perfectly optimized to play on PC. If the app isn’t 100% optimized, but it’s still playable, then you’ll see a “Playable” badge next to the game. Lastly, there’s an “Untested” badge for games. You’ll need to specifically search for those games to find them.

More announcements

Google is really looking to make Play Games on PC a major platform. As such, it’s expanding in several ways. Firstly, Google will make the full catalog of games available on computers with AMD processors. Before, there was only a limited selection of games available.

Next, Google plans to expand its native PC program to more developers. At the moment, there are more than 50 native PC games among the ported Android titles. If Google expands the program to more PC developers, then Play Games could be a major competitor to other game launchers on the market.
