This Mini Mac Has A Smaller Screen Than The Original IPhone

We typically associate older computers with being very large and bulky. However, imagine a computer straight out of the 80s that can fit in the palm of your hand. 1-bit Rainbow officially released the Pico-Mac-Nano, the world’s smallest Mac computer.
For people unfamiliar with the design of this device, it’s a replica of the original Macintosh computer released back in 1984. This 41-year-old computer was a popular device, and it paved the way to tech supremacy for Apple. Coming with 128KB of RAM (which was impressive for the time), a 512 x 342 display, and a Motorola 68000 chip, this was a pretty formidable device back in the day.
The 1-bit Rainbow Pico-Mac-Nano replicates the original Macintosh computer… only on a much smaller scale
Obviously, this is not the device to run your business on. The Pico-Mac-Nano is a miniaturized version of the original Macintosh computer, and it comes with an absolutely minuscule 2-inch display. That is 77% smaller than the 9-inch display on the original Macintosh. It’s even smaller than the original iPhone’s display. However, the resolution isn’t all that different. It has a 480p display, whereas the original Macintosh had a 512p display.
As for the other Hardware, the 1-bit Rainbow Pico-Mac-Nano has 512MB of RAM, which is four times as much RAM as the original. For storage, there is a Micro SD card slot.
When you get this device, you are getting a fully functioning computer complete with the MicroMac 128k emulator. So, you’re using a version of the original operating system that debuted back in 1984. You’re very much using an original Mac, and a three-volt CR2 battery powers the whole rig.
What’s the use of a computer with a 2-inch screen running 41-year-old software? At the end of the day, it’s a novelty. It’s the kind of thing you would sit on your shelf or desk as decoration. The Pico-Mac-Nano appeals to nostalgic nerds and people who love vintage technology. The original Macintosh is a significant piece of computing history, and there are people who like to honor its legacy.
If you are interested in picking one up, it will only cost you $59. That’s much more reasonable than the $2,495 that the original Macintosh launched at. At the time of writing this, due to high demand, 1-bit Rainbow has temporarily stopped taking orders for this device. However, you can sign up to be notified when it is once more available.
