These New IPhone 17 Dummy Units Leave Nothing To The Imagination

Remember when Apple was known as the company with tightly sealed lips and where leaks were rare? These days, not so much. We’re still months away from the iPhone 17’s launch. However, the folks at AppleInsider have published a new hands-on video with the iPhone 17 dummy units.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen iPhone 17 dummy units. Last week, Unbox Therapy published a video showcasing the devices. Just earlier, AppleTrack shared dummy units that they also managed to obtain. Suffice it to say, all these dummy units are identical to each other. Does this confirm the actual design? No. But it does corroborate the rumors; at the very least, they’re consistent across the board.
For those who are hearing about Apple’s iPhone 17 series for the first time, this will be the first iPhone in a while that will feature a more radical design change. The base iPhone 17 will remain the same as its predecessors. However, the Pro and Pro Max models will receive a design change in the camera module. The unit now stretches across the back of the phone.
It’s an odd choice, but hopefully Apple has a good reason for it. The iPhone 17 series will also introduce a brand new model.
The thin form factor is back
Apple is ditching the Plus model in favor of the iPhone 17 Air. This is Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date, but it will also act as a test bed of sorts for Apple to try out different components that could find its way into the company’s foldable.
While the rumored iPhone 17 Air specs don’t sound too appealing, from a design point of view, it actually looks pretty cool. Many companies used to chase the thin form factor years ago before the trend died. It’s nice to see it picked up again. For our Android readers, don’t worry, Samsung is expected to debut an ultra-thin phone of its own in the form of the Galaxy S25 Edge. Last we heard, the handset could see a launch this May.
