Let’s face it, Samsung has forgotten what the word “innovation” means. Gone are the days when we got new and exciting Samsung tech. Now, it seems to be going for a more polished and sterile aesthetic. It’s no longer the company that gave us the phone and tablet with the band-aid back.

We’re seeing Samsung’s lack of innovation strongly manifest itself in its reluctance to give its foldable phones better camera hardware. The Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones have been stuck with largely the same hardware year after year. Well, guess what, get ready to have your mind blown, as Samsung brought some sweeping changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s camera!

That was sarcasm…. basically nothing has changed, actually. As per the leak, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will come with the same 50MP main camera, the same 12MP ultrawide, and the same 10MP selfie camera. So, if you buy the Galaxy Z Flip 7, you’ll likely have the same experience as the Galaxy Z Flip 6… and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Right now, there’s no reason to believe that Samsung will bring any major changes in any other areas.

There could be another camera (this is a massive maybe)

Don’t hold your breath on this one, but there’s a slight chance that Samsung will add an additional camera to its foldable clamshell this year. A recent patent indicates that Samsung wants to add a telephoto camera to a future Z Flip. We don’t know if the company plans to add it to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or the Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Since we’re dealing with patent images, there’s no guarantee. Patented ideas rarely come to fruition. All we know is that it has occurred to the company at some point. So, chances are that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be a carbon copy of what’s come before it.
