These Google Services Are Getting AI Features To Plan Your Travels

Google has been implementing artificial intelligence in most of its products and services for years. The company doesn’t want these implementations to remain mere gimmicks but rather truly useful functions that you can use daily or on special occasions. Now, Google has announced a set of new AI-powered features for its Maps, Search, and Hotels services, designed to facilitate your travel experience.

Google Maps, Search, and Hotels now can make your travel experience easier using AI

First, Google Maps is getting a feature that will detect locations from your screenshots. Then, Maps will allow you to save those locations to a list of potential trip ideas. Have you ever come across an image or video on social media of an incredible location you’d like to go to, but didn’t you have easy access tools to save it without leaving the app? The new feature should help simplify the process; just take a screenshot!

The screenshot list feature will first roll out to iOS users in the US. Google will also roll it out soon to Android, although it will initially only be available in English.

Google is also adding more capabilities to Search’s AI Overviews. Now, the tool will be able to help you plan your itinerary for your trips. It will be available in the Google app and on the website in the US. According to Google, the feature can make it easier to create travel plans for “different regions or entire countries.”

To use this option, just open Google Search and say/type a prompt like, “Create a vacation itinerary for Greece that focuses on history.” AI Overviews will also allow you to explore reviews of potential locations to visit and save them to Maps. You can even export your custom itinerary to other Google services like Docs or Gmail.

More languages for AI Overviews in Google Lens; price drop alerts in Google Hotels

Additionally, Google will expand the languages supported by AI Overviews in Google Lens. The feature will now be available in Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. If you’re not that into outdoor activities, this feature offers Gemini-powered answers or key data about things you see with your phone’s camera.

Lastly, Google is bringing Google Flights’ price drop alerts to its Google hotel search tool. The feature will be available on both the mobile app and the website. Users will receive email notifications when a hotel price drops in a location of interest.
