The Galaxy Z Flip FE’s Launch Has Reportedly Been Delayed

Summary: Samsung may have delayed the Galaxy Z Flip FE affordable foldable smartphone. The South Korean media reports that the company currently wants to focus on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, as it has started mass producing displays for these phones. Samsung will reportedly now launch the Z Flip FE and its first tri-fold phone in Q4 2025.

Samsung plans to launch several new foldable smartphones this year. Apart from the regular book-style Z Fold and the clamshell-type flagship models, the company could also launch its first trifolding handset similar to Huawei’s Mate XT. Besides, the brand wants to expand the reach of its foldable devices to a wider audience with a more affordable offering.

As per reports, Samsung could launch the device as the Galaxy Z Flip FE, just like the FE or Fan Edition variants of Galaxy S series flagships. Multiple reports have indicated that the company could launch the affordable model alongside the regular flagship foldables in July, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. A new report from Korea suggests that Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

Samsung’s affordable foldable phone may launch later than expected

As per a report from The Bell, Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the tri-fold foldable phone until sometime in the fourth quarter of 2025. Unfortunately, the report doesn’t mention why Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip FE. However, it does claim that Samsung has started mass producing the display panels of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

This indicates that Samsung is currently prioritizing the regular flagship foldable smartphones before introducing a budget offering. Earlier, the reports suggested that Samsung could unveil the Z Flip FE at its July Unpacked event.

What to expect from Samsung’s budget foldable offering?

According to previous reports, the Galaxy Z Flip FE could have the same display technology as the current Galaxy Z Flip 6. This suggests the handset will offer a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2600 nits of max brightness. It will also retain the hinge design of the Z Flip 6. Samsung could add its flat Armor Aluminum Frame for added durability.

Reports suggest that Samsung will offer a slightly downgraded variant of the Exynos 2500 chipset inside the Z Flip FE. In terms of optics, the affordable foldable offering could share the front camera and speakers with the Z Flip 6. Samsung will offer a 50MP main camera, but details about the secondary sensor remain unclear.

Since the launch isn’t happening before the last quarter of this year, many things could change. So, we can only wait and watch what Samsung has up its sleeves for an affordable foldable device.
