The Galaxy S25 Is Great… Just Not When It Comes To Charging

The Galaxy S25 series is a mixed bag. They’re still solid phones in just about every department, but many are disappointed by Samsung’s stagnation in terms of hardware improvements. Fast charging support is one of the key areas that Samsung has kept unchanged. However, it seems that some Galaxy S25s aren’t even charging at the expected speeds, while others are experiencing disconnection issues with Samsung’s official 5A cable.

Fast charging reportedly “capped” on some units of the Galaxy S25 series

Over the past few days, Galaxy S25 users have been reporting a couple of annoying charging issues. The first one affects the maximum charging speed supported by the devices. If you’re not aware, the vanilla, Plus, and Ultra variants support 25W, 45W, and 45W wired charging, respectively.

According to reports, some Galaxy S25 series units are charging at 15W max via cable. The issue occurs with both the official charger and third-party ones. Affected users claim that the same brick charges other devices very quickly without any issues. The problem doesn’t seem to be with the cable either, as the Galaxy S25 series now supports 15V/3A fast charging, so even the 3A cable included in the box should be compatible.

However, some units are unable to exceed 15W of wired charging. What makes this worse is that some phones can’t even reach 15W. Remember that smartphones don’t maintain maximum power throughout the entire charge, but rather during specific moments. Well, affected users say that most of the time, the charging speed of their phones ranges between 5W and 10W.

Samsung acknowledges disconnection issue when charging Galaxy S25 devices with official 5A cable

Users on the Samsung Community forums and X/Twitter have been complaining about constant disconnections during the charging process. That said, Samsung Italy confirmed that it is aware of an “anomaly on charging with the 5A cable” (translated from Italian). The company will fix it in a software update, though there is no ETA yet. In the meantime, it is best not to use Samsung’s 5A cable to avoid potential battery issues on your Galaxy S25.
