The Galaxy S25 FE Might Not Get A Better Telephoto Camera

With the Galaxy S25 Edge and full lineup released, the Galaxy S25 FE is starting to rear its head. According to new leaks, the Galaxy S25 FE camera array may offer little change, sticking with a similar telephoto camera to last year’s model.

The Galaxy S25 FE isn’t expected to be a game-changer. It’s likely going to be a simple option for Galaxy users that want more bang for their buck, while taking on some downgrades. The FE series is literally the “fan edition” lineup, which means it looks like a Galaxy S25 and should therefore act like one, more or less.

New leaks have begun popping up, and one regarding the Galaxy S25 FE’s camera might be disappointing for users who have been asking for an upgrade that brings the phone closer to what the Ultra may offer. The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to bring an 8MP 3x telephoto lens (via GalaxyClub). That’s exactly what the Galaxy S24 FE had, next to a 50MP main sensor.

There is little detail on sensor type and surrounding information. This could be the same unit or a slightly varying version of what Samsung used last year. In either case, it doesn’t mean the Galaxy S25 FE will be able to capture stunning shots from far away.

Considering that a lot of the cost of a premium device comes from adding a telephoto camera, including a highly capable one to the Galaxy S25 FE would likely increase the price substantially. If anything, the FE series is about saving cost where possible, and the telephoto department is a corner Samsung would likely love to keep cutting. This is even the case with the Galaxy S25 Edge, which has a higher price.

The leak also notes that the Galaxy S25 FE will bring a 12MP ultra-wide lens into the fray, as well. It’s also noted that the selfie camera will see a substantial improvement to 12MP.

The Galaxy S25 FE may launch later this year, around October, if history repeats itself.
