Summary

  • T-Mobile’s new Family Freedom promotion offers up to $3,200 for switching from Verizon or AT&T.
  • The promotion is a rebranding of the Carrier Freedom promotion that was first introduced in 2014.
  • While not groundbreaking, T-Mobile’s offer is still competitive, offering a good incentive for those looking to switch.

T-Mobile is our top choice when it comes to the best phone carriers in the US. And despite having a pretty bump in 2024, the brand is ready to try new deals and has revealed a new promotion in order to try and lure in new customers, especially if you’re currently using Verizon or AT&T.

T-Mobile has debuted its new Family Freedom promotion that has the potential to pay out up to $3,200 if you’re switching four eligible lines from Verizon or AT&T (via The Mobile Report). In addition, T-Mobile will supply new phones for each line for just $25. For the most part, not a bad deal if you’re looking to jump ship from another carrier.

While this all sounds pretty exciting, this is something that T-Mobile has already done before, way back in 2014 when it introduced its Carrier Freedom promotion during its Un-carrier 4.0 event. But everything old is new again, which means, if you’re on Verizon or AT&T, now’s going to be a great time to switch to T-Mobile.

As far as how you sign up, it’s pretty simple. You have to start up a new family plan with T-Mobile, trade in all eligible phones for new ones, and then you’ll want port over numbers from your existing carrier. Then, and this is the most crucial part, send in a statement from your old carrier that includes the following details: “mobile number, device make and model, financing details, and payoff amount.”

For the most part, nothing too exciting here from T-Mobile, and that doesn’t really surprise us. While it used to be a brand that would really shock and impress, it’s now become just like the other carriers. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with this promotion at all, but the other wireless carriers have all caught up with T-Mobile and offer nearly similar promotions and perks.

If you’re someone that really wants to save big on their wireless bill, you can always choose to go with an MVNO. While there are fewer perks available from prepaid wireless carriers, the plans are often cheaper, while providing the same great speed and coverage.
