T-Mobile Delays Settlement Payments—Here’s When You’ll Get Your Money

T-Mobile has gone through some serious drama over the past few years with numerous data leaks. It got to the point where it was sued for failing to protect its users’ data. The lawsuit was a success, and the company was forced to fork over $350 million. T-Mobile was supposed to start distributing money to the affected users, but people might be getting their payment late.

In case you don’t know, T-Mobile was hit with more than nine hacks over the course of a few years, but the biggest one happened in 2021. 76 million people could have been affected. The Un-carrier was “Un-careful” with its security, and that’s not a good look for the company.

What’s unfortunate is that there’s no telling how much money people will get. T-Mobile has a large user base, and 76 million of them were affected by the data breach. That number can really stretch out $350 million. If all of the affected users were to get a piece of the pie, then users can expect not much more than pocket change. However, that remains to be seen.

Users will get their T-Mobile settlement check later than expected

T-Mobile promised users that they would get their payments sometime in April. Well, seeing as it’s currently April 29th, we can say that the deadline has passed. Thanks to a new announcement from the company, it looks like the company is postponing the checks until sometime in May. There are 31 days in May, it’s anyone’s guess as to when people will start seeing their checks.

This is pretty disappointing, and what’s more disappointing is the reason for this delay. The company cites “unexpected delays” as the reason. Way to be vague, T-Mobile. We’re not sure what these delays could be, or when people should be on the lookout for their payments. Most people probably aren’t concerned with the wait because they don’t know how much they’re supposed to get. They might be in for some good money or for pennies on the dollar.

All we know is that T-Mobile is not in a good place with its customers. The company has been protecting its users’ data with toilet paper, it’s been raising its prices and adding fees, and it’s been charging people for free lines. If ever there was a company that needed a redemption arc, it’d be T-Mobile.
