NVIDIA has started rolling out a new Experience Upgrade for all SHIELD and SHIELD Pro. The upgrade in question here is v9.2.1, which follows the 9.2 update that arrived back in early February.
A surprise NVIDIA SHIELD update delivers a ton of fixes
This update is actually quite a notable one, as it addresses many quality-of-life issues that have been reported. It improves stability and compatibility with other devices within your home setup. With that being said, let’s see what’s new.
This update adds support to streaming games on NVIDIA GeForce NOW at 120FPS up to 1080p resolution. Do note that you’ll need the GeForce NOW Ultimate membership in order to take advantage of that perk, though.
Now… the bugs, there are quite a few fixes here. First, the update fixes nigh mode being skipped with DAP is on. It also fixes Dolby Vision content stutters when the frame match feature is enabled.
NVIDIA also fixed content audio resolution while using an USB DAC, it should match perfectly now. HQS has been added back, which is a maxrate option for USB audio, in case you didn’t know.
NVIDIA even fixes the AAC 5.1 audio issue that has been plaguing Plex users
A USB TV Tuner fix with Live Channel app has also been issued, while fixes for playback issues in Plex when using AAC 5.1 audio have been issued too. The last entry on NVIDIA’s changelog says that this update also fixes connection issues with third-party remotes after sleep or reboot.
That is pretty much it. Many of you probably already have an update available, while others may have to wait a bit. It is rolling out now, though, to all NVIDIA SHIELD and SHIELD Pro users. We’ve received the update recently, as you can see below, and have already noticed some of the made changes.
