Spotify’s Premium Audio Plan Is Shaping Up… After 4 Years

We’re familiar with all of the perks we get with the standard Spotify payment plan like the ability to choose your own music and no ads. However, there are people who want more from their plan, and this includes higher-quality audio. Well, after about four years of waiting, it seems that people might be getting what they’ve wanted. Spotify could launch its Music Pro tier later this year.
That’s right, it’s been several years since Spotify first put into our heads that it wants to bring an audiophile-focused tier. While it’s probably the biggest streaming platform on the planet, Spotify still offers its listeners lower-quality audio files. This puts it a few steps behind services like Apple Music and Amazon Music. That’s not to mention the more specialized streaming services dedicated to high-quality music like Tidal or QOBUZ.
In 2021, the company announced its intention to allow users to stream high-fi audio. We heard more about it last year with no official launch.
The Spotify Music Pro streaming service could finally come later this year
This might come as a pretty disappointing bit of news for people who wanted more from their Spotify subscription. This goes especially for people who’ve been waiting since 2021. However, the company can’t dangle its users forever.
According to the report, Spotify will officially launch this new enhanced payment tier later this year. Since we’re still in the waking hours of 2025, “later this year” can mean pretty much anything. When it eventually does hit the market, it will cost $6 more than the standard tier.
Right now, the standard plan costs $11.99. So, you should expect to spend $17.99. What does $18/month get you? Well, you can expect some AI goodness with the Remixing tool. Using AI, you’ll be able to mix songs from different artists together. That might be the most interesting feature. Along with that, users might be able to buy concert tickets through Spotify. The report points to access to pre-sale concert tickets. These will let you order your tickets early so that you can get better seats. That will be exciting for concertgoers.
