Spotify’s Big Win For Podcasting: The “Following Feed” You’ve Been Waiting For

Spotify has been adding a bunch of new features lately. More recently, the audio streaming giant added a new feature to AI DJ, allowing users to request it to play songs based on their mood. Well, the company is pushing a few new features today. The “Following feed” and “In this episode” sections are major additions that will make interacting with and listening to podcasts on Spotify even easier.

The Following feed appears in the main podcast area on the Spotify app’s home screen. You can use the toggle to quickly check what’s new from the podcast shows you’ve subscribed to. With this feature in place, you don’t have to search for fresh content from podcasts you love. Spotify further notes that it will “continue to explore new ways to make this space even better.”

That’s not all; you’ll also find Spotify displaying podcast recommendations right below the shortcuts on the home screen. You’ll also get a note as to why its algorithm picked those recommendations for you. Other than the Following feed, Spotify is adding the “In this episode” section to take things up a notch.

As the name suggests, the aforementioned section in the app includes all the links to other shows, audiobooks, playlists, songs, and more that hosts mention or recommend in their podcast. In all honesty, this one is quite an interesting addition.

Besides adding the Following feed, Spotify is also making some changes to the podcasts’ comment section. The streaming giant says that based on user feedback, it has added thread replies and emoji reactions for creators. If you are a creator, you can control it via Spotify for Creators. This is where all the creators control whether comments are available for specific episodes or their show.
