Sigma Introduces The BF Full-Frame Camera With A Minimalistic Design

Contents
Sigma has just introduced its latest full-frame camera called the Sigma BF. The company’s latest camera flaunts a minimalistic design and a compact form. As per the brand, the Sigma BF is the world’s first in its segment to feature a true unibody design language. The company has carved each of the new Sigma cameras from a single, solid block of aluminum. The process of crafting the camera’s body takes more than seven hours, as per the brand.
The new Sigma camera features a 24MP sensor and 6K video support
Sigma’s new BF full-frame camera flaunts a 24.6-megapixel sensor and supports high-res 6K & L-Log video recording. It allows video production that takes advantage of the wide dynamic range of a full-frame sensor. The Sigma BF is compatible with the L-Mount lens standard, which LEICA initially developed but Panasonic and Sigma now also use. Sigma will update its I series of prime lenses with a new silver color option to match the BF.
Furthermore, the Sigma BF is capable of capturing photos at up to 8 frames per second. The camera relies on a hybrid autofocus system combining phase and contrast detection. As per the brand, the autofocus system uses “state-of-the-art algorithms” to detect and quickly focus on specific subjects. Sigma has also included 13 different color modes on the BF, which allows photographers to achieve a specific look in-camera without the requirement for post-processing.
The Sigma BF also features a new streamlined user interface, which surrounds the live preview with shooting-related info including the shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and EV compensation. Lastly, the 230GB SSD of the camera is enough to store 14,000 JPEGs or 4,300 RAW files, claims the company. It can also store up to 2.5 hours of video at its highest quality setting.
Sigma’s BF full-frame camera has just four buttons with haptic feedback
Apart from the minimalistic design, the Sigma BF full-frame camera features just four buttons to access basic exposure settings and playback. You can control all of them with just one finger. There’s a small 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD at the rear of the device that displays your most recently changed photography settings. Notably, all the touch control buttons, including the one inside the dial, feature haptic feedback so they feel like you’re touching rear buttons.
Around the sides and underside, the Sigma BF has a single loop for a wrist strap and a tripod mount. The camera features a removable battery, and a USB Type-C port for charging and transferring photos & videos to your computer. There are no other ports for headphones or microphone inputs. The camera is as simple as it comes. There isn’t even a microSD card slot – instead, there’s an internal SSD onboard.
Coming to the pricing, the Sigma B7 camera will retail in Black or Silver color variants for $1,999. The camera will start shipping in major markets at some point in April.
