Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 Series Might Sport Some Seriously Boring Colors

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 lineup might not just be limited in size, as today’s latest leak points to a pretty small selection of color options.

Earlier today, notable leaker @MysteryLupin reiterated earlier reports that this year’s Galaxy Watch 8 Classic would be limited to a single 46mm size, available in simple black or white colorways. That could make Samsung’s next smartwatch lineup feel pretty stale, and unfortunately, those relatively boring shades aren’t just limited to this year’s “Classic” model.

Samsung is rumored to have two other watches on the way for its annual summer Unpacked event — a new base Galaxy Watch 8 and an upgraded Galaxy Watch Ultra for 2025 — but neither release are teed up to offer particularly-inspired color choices. The Galaxy Watch 8 is rumored to come in either Graphite or Silver, both of which sound more promising than the Classic’s “black and white” until you consider what Graphite and Silver actually look like.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will drop last year’s white colorway for blue, while keeping gray and silver around for another generation. All three include the usual “titanium” branding reserved for Samsung’s highest-end gadgets. A blue Galaxy Watch Ultra variant certainly makes up for the lack of major color options on display here, though it’s also worth remembering that, in person, Titanium Blue — Samsung’s go-to shade on flagships throughout 2025 — resembles more of a cooler-toned silver than a traditional style of blue. At the very least, the navy blue band previously seen in various leaks helps to add an actual splash of color into the mix.

Thankfully, we’re expecting Samsung to make enough visual changes this year that this all might be for naught with consumers. Both the standard Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic are rumored to adopt the “squircle” shape first seen on last year’s inaugural Galaxy Watch Ultra, albeit with a more subdued style on the standard Watch 8. That should, at the very least, differentiate this generation’s watches compared to those from previous years.

Still, compared to the first-gen Ultra’s bright orange band and the green and cream shades seen on the standard Watch 7, these all feel a bit lacking, and that’s to say nothing of the Sapphire and Gold shades seen on the Watch 5 and Watch 6, respectively. Overall, it’s pointing towards a bit of a boring year color-wise for Samsung’s wearables.
