Samsung’s One UI 8 Lets You Use Quick Share With A ‘single Tap’

One UI 8, based on Android 16, has been officially outlined by Samsung and made available for the Galaxy S25 during the first beta phase. One major update takes aim at Quick Share, which now offers a more enhanced experience.

Since Google introduced Quick Share to Android, it has undergone several big changes. These include redesigns and core adjustments that have improved the experience.

Samsung notes that One UI 8 will bring another change to the Quick Share on Galaxy devices. The feature will allow users to share files and images with a “single tap” from the Quick Settings menu. Samsung doesn’t go into major detail about how the new “enhanced” version will work, but in testing, it looks like the company has made some changes to the UI to allow users to access the app quicker, and by extension, send or receive files faster than before.

Now, anyone can send a file to your device if the receive screen is open. This seems to override the settings that define who can send and receive files. If the receive screen is up, your device will allow any incoming file. This is a nice little change that makes complete sense. It essentially cuts out the process of changing settings to allow one person to send you something, even if they aren’t in your contacts.

Another big adjustment is the file picker in the sending screen. When you’re looking for someone to send something to, you can simply choose the recent file from the Quick Share app. This is another change that cuts a step or two out of the entire process.

According to Samsung’s news post about One UI 8, both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also now required for Quick Share. This is a shift from being able to share with Bluetooth alone. When sharing without Wi-Fi turned on, One UI 8 will force Wi-Fi on to complete the share. If this is truly how Quick Share operates now, it’ll be impossible to use the app while on the move without Wi-Fi.

Overall, the new app looks clean and seems to make the entire sharing experience better, mostly. It’s one of the only major changes in One UI 8, and it seems to be a decent start. One UI 8 is available now to download on the Galaxy S25.
