Samsung’s One UI 8 Beta Breaks Google Pay And Good Lock Apps

Contents
Samsung finally kicked off the One UI 8 beta program a day ago. It is currently live for the Galaxy S25 series users in select regions across the world. The brand’s new software update gives Galaxy users a sneak peek at what’s coming with Android 16. Packed with many features and user-friendly tweaks, it’s an exciting step forward for Samsung. However, there’s a catch with the new update, as the One UI 8 beta update breaks many modules for apps like Google Pay and Good Lock.
Samsung’s One UI 8 beta update breaks many important apps like Google Pay and Good Lock
Samsung’s One UI 8 beta update breaks many important banking apps. In the new One UI version, Google Wallet doesn’t work, and there’s a good chance that many other banking apps aren’t working either. It appears that the modules related to the Google Pay service in the One UI 8 beta version are not working as intended.
Furthermore, the One UI 8 beta update disables many tools in Samsung’s Good Lock suite, which offers a bunch of useful apps and plugins that allow users to tweak the UI and core functionalities. The update has broken five out of the fifteen Good Lock modules. These include Home Up, Game Booster Plus, NavStar, QuickStar, and MultiStar.
Besides, ClockFace isn’t working with lock screen clock designs, and Edge Lighting+ has some compatibility issues.
It’s advisable to wait for the stable release
Samsung often dials back many Good Lock features during beta phases to avoid any major issues. However, if you are looking to try the other One UI 8 features on your main device, that’s your daily driver, then we advise you to wait for the stable release. However, we don’t think it’ll arrive before the company launches its next-gen foldables with it in July.
We can also expect that Samsung will fix problems with the apps like Good Lock and Google Pay or Google Wallet in the upcoming beta releases of One UI 8. Needless to say, more Galaxy devices, apart from the Galaxy S25, will join the One UI 8 beta update program soon, so stay tuned for regular updates.
