Camera quality is one of the key selling points of the Galaxy S devices. As expected, the latest Galaxy S25 series delivers excellent results under most situations, especially on the S25 Ultra model. However, there was a bug that was affecting the quality of pictures under certain conditions. Fortunately, Samsung has responded quickly and is already sending out the fix to the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera issue.
Samsung already rolling out update that fixes Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera banding
Over the past few days, Galaxy S25 series buyers have been receiving their devices. Many have tested the cameras to see how much of an improvement they are over the previous generation. That said, some have detected an annoying banding effect present in their photos. The issue primarily affected the Galaxy S25 Ultra, although there are also some reports from Galaxy S25 Plus owners.
According to reports, some photos showed vertical or horizontal banding that noticeably affected image quality. This bug appeared when using the devices’ Night Mode. There are no reports of the issue appearing in other camera modes, so everything pointed to the image processing algorithm as the culprit.
The situation has reached Samsung’s ears, and the company has responded quickly. A spokesperson for the South Korean giant acknowledged the existence of the problem, although he said that there were only a “limited number of cases.” He also confirmed that the first update to the lineup includes the fix for the camera bug that was affecting the Galaxy S25 Ultra and some Galaxy S25 Plus models. The update is rolling out right now, so you probably won’t have to wait long to get it.
Samsung needs to be especially careful with the camera quality of the Galaxy S25 series. The company decided to go for optimization and improvements in image processing instead of new camera hardware. So, it needs to prove that its approach makes sense, something that bugs affecting image quality don’t help at all.
