Samsung’s 5-Year-Old Flagship Smartphones Reach End-Of-Life

Summary: Samsung’s 5-year-old flagship smartphones have reached the end-of-life, they won’t be getting any more updates. We’re talking about the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra phones that have been launched in February 2020.

Samsung’s 5-year-old flagship smartphones have reached end of life at this point. The devices in question are three Galaxy S20 flagships, the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra.

The Galaxy S20 series reached end-of-life, it will not longer be getting updates

The company has confirmed this by quietly removing all three phones from the list of supported devices. This happened following the April 2025 update announcement. As a reminder, the One UI 7 started rolling out yesterday, along with April 2025 security update.

With that being said, One UI 7 is still not rolling out to the US. It will start on April 10. The Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition are the first phones getting this update.

Let’s circle back to the devices in question here, the Galaxy S20 series. All three of these phones have been getting security updates up to this point. They’ve been announced in February 2020, so it has been over 5 years since that happened.

Samsung is offering even longer support for its flagships these days, but that practice was not in motion back then. All three of these phones will stop getting software support from this point.

The arrival of these devices was a milestone launch for Samsung

The Galaxy S20 series was actually a milestone launch for the company. It followed the Galaxy S10 series phones which arrived in 2019. The Galaxy S20 Ultra was, interestingly enough, the very first ‘Ultra’ phone from Samsung.

What’s also interesting is that the Galaxy S20 series was not particularly popular for the company. Well, based on Samsung’s Galaxy S series standards, of course. Still, it’ll remain remembered as being a milestone launch for Samsung.
