Apple today unveiled its new design language, “Liquid Glass,” which will be a core part of the upcoming iOS 26 update, and Samsung didn’t waste a second in poking fun at the changes.
During its WWDC 2025 keynote today, Apple announced iOS 26 – a new branding scheme that will align with the forthcoming year for each of the company’s platforms – which will come with a new design language called “Liquid Glass.” Apple calls the new design language “expressive” which sounds a bit familiar, but it’s actually Samsung that had some things to say about the update.
As the keynote was ongoing, Samsung took to Twitter/X to throw in some… commentary.
The company first addressed the “sleek glass UI” of iOS 26 in reference to its own One UI 7 redesign that started rolling out earlier this year (six months later than it was expected to). Samsung’s redesign does indeed feel full of glass and translucent elements, but not quite in the same sense as Apple’s update, but it is interesting to see the various similarities between the two experiences.
Customizable apps? Floating bars? That sleek glass UI? Looks… familiar 🤔

Next in line, Samsung took a moment to tout that it had some of Apple’s new AI features first. Apple announced that iOS will support Live Translation across apps like Messages, FaceTime, and Phone to help users communicate across languages. Samsung first introduced its AI-powered translation features for the Galaxy S24 series last year, and they’ve since expanded to many more Galaxy devices.
Further, Samsung pokes fun at the Apple Watch only just now adding some AI features. Apple announced an AI-powered “workout buddy” and several other smaller features. AI-powered features on Galaxy Watch, per Samsung’s own website, include smart message replies and some sleep/energy analysis. Seems like hardly anything to brag about, but Samsung certainly feels bold in saying that Galaxy Watch “already knows when you’re too tired to care.”

Other features in Apple’s new updates that come from Android include the new Call Screening and Hold Assist features, which seem like direct copies of Google Pixel’s Call Screen and Hold for Me features that have been available as far back as 2018.
