Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Series: Smarter, Faster, And More Powerful Than Ever

Samsung has just announced the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra at Unpacked in San Jose. These are the latest and greatest phones from Samsung, which feature the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which was customized from the ground up with Qualcomm for the Galaxy S25 series.

There’s not a lot of surprises with the Galaxy S25 series, with the base model sporting a 6.2-inch display, 6.7-inch on the Galaxy S25 Plus, and 6.9-inches on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung is also using Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 which adds that anti-reflective layer to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung also says that the Gorilla Armor that was introduced last year ended up reducing screen repairs by 60% on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The battery capacities are also the same this year, at 4,000mAh, 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh respectively. Samsung says that it didn’t up the battery sizes this year, as it was pretty happy with how well the battery performed with this new 3nm chipset, which is also super efficient, even more so than other Snapdragon 8 Elite devices.

Inside, we’re looking at 12GB of RAM, so there are no 8GB of RAM models this year, thankfully. The storage variants are the same this year, so that’s 128GB and 256GB on the Galaxy S25, 256GB and 512GB on the Galaxy S25 Plus, and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Galaxy AI continues to evolve

Samsung is focusing quite a bit on AI with the Galaxy S25 series, which surprise surprise. There are a few new Galaxy AI features that are available on the Galaxy S25 series. The feature that really caught my eye, is AI in the Settings app. Essentially, you can ask AI for a setting that you’re looking for, and it’ll take you right there. Samsung says that because they allow users to customize so much, their Settings app has gotten really out of control. So using AI, Samsung is making it easier to find different things.

With Cross App Action, Samsung is aiming to streamline complex tasks into one or two clicks, instead of 3 or more. Now this is where AI can really be helpful. Allowing you to get these tasks done faster and simpler. Samsung is also using multimodal, so you can ask for things across different apps. This works with Samsung and Google apps. One of the examples that Samsung showed off was the ability to ask Gemini to find YouTube videos about a product, summarize them and add it to your Notes. Or to ask Gemini when the next Warriors game is, and to add it to your calendar.

Finally an upgraded Ultrawide

Samsung has slowly been upgrading its camera sensors on the “Ultra” model over the last few years, and this year it’s the Ultrawide’s turn. So this year, we’re looking at a 50-megapixel sensor, up from 12-megapixels. Samsung says that this allows for 4x greater detail in macro shots, in addition to the added detail for ultrawide shots. Samsung is sticking with the same 200-megapixel main sensor and 50-megapixel telephoto too.

The company is also talking up a big game about its ProVisual Engine. This is able to get rid of the noise, and add in more details. Samsung is using double-analysis noise removal, which is done in real-time. So unlike Google’s video magic, it doesn’t need to be uploaded anywhere, or improved in the cloud.

Samsung has also added Audio Eraser, which in my demo of the feature, it does work really well. It’s able to identify six different forms of sound, and remove, or lower the volume, with ease. It can also be done automatically.

For the pro’s out there, Samsung now allows you to record in LOG. It also has its own LUT, making recording video on the Galaxy S25 Ultra a joy.
