Summary
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 may feature a larger cover display similar to the Moto Razr.

- The Flip 7 might stand out more for its chipset than its bigger outer display.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 renders leaked way back in late February, indicating a design similar to the current-gen flip model. But rumors later suggested Samsung’s next Flip foldable could sport a Moto Razr-like bigger cover display. A new report now backs this up, indicating that Samsung may finally embrace a more expansive cover screen on its flagship Flip phone this year.

After digging through a leaked One UI 8 firmware, the Android Authority team found animation files showing the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s bigger cover display. As seen on the recent Moto Razr models, the Flip’s cover screen will wrap around the dual-camera modules. Rumors suggest the flip phone will sport a 4-inch outer screen, up from the 3.5-inch panel on the Z Flip 6.

The extra space won’t dramatically increase the usability of the Flip 7’s cover screen. But it should at least bring Samsung’s flip phone on par with one of its closest competitors in the US. Supposedly, this will be the biggest design change on the Flip 7 this year, with other aspects remaining unchanged.
Unlike Motorola, Samsung does not directly allow apps to run on the Galaxy Z Flip’s outer screen. Advanced users can use a Good Lock module to enable this functionality, though. Even if the Flip 7 ships with a bigger outer screen, Samsung is unlikely to change its stance on this limitation.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 might make a surprising processor choice
The Galaxy Z Flip 7’s biggest upgrade could lie under the hood, with Samsung supposedly opting for its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset. If the rumor turns out to be true, it would be the first time the company has used an Exynos chip on its foldable phone. Despite subpar yields, Samsung has purportedly opted for the Exynos SoC due to cost reasons.
Other specs of the Flip foldable won’t differ too much from its predecessor, with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Battery capacity will apparently get a boost to 4,300mAh, though charging speed might remain the same at 25W.
