Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Inches Closer: 3C Certification Signals Imminent Launch

Smartwatch fans are in luck. It looks like Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next generation of wearables, namely the Galaxy Watch 8 series. While we’re all waiting for the official word, some interesting clues are starting to pop up, hinting that these new smartwatches might be arriving sooner rather than later. In a recent development, the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic have received new certifications, now in China.
The latest buzz comes from China, where both the standard Galaxy Watch 8 and the more premium Galaxy Watch 8 Classic have received their 3C certification. This certification doesn’t spill all the juicy details we’re craving. However, it’s a pretty good sign that Samsung is moving closer to a launch. Think of it as the watches getting their official stamp of approval before they can hit store shelves.
China’s 3C certifies the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series
Interestingly, the 3C certification (spotted by Xpertpick) does confirm a couple of things. Both the Watch 8 and the Watch 8 Classic will be available in LTE variants. This was to be expected considering the brand’s previous launches. It also looks like they’ll both feature 10W charging and might even come bundled with a 15W travel adapter.

This news follows a recent sighting on the FCC certification platform, which revealed a few more tidbits. We can likely expect support for LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GNSS (that’s GPS and other location services). So, it sounds like these watches will be packed with all the connectivity you’d expect from a modern smartwatch.
If Samsung follows its usual pattern, we might just see the Galaxy Watch 8 series make its debut in July. The company could announce them alongside their next-generation foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Last year, we saw the Galaxy Watch 7 and the more rugged Watch Ultra launch around the same time as the foldables, so it seems like a likely scenario.
One question mark still hanging in the air is whether Samsung will also release a successor to the Watch Ultra this year. Only time will tell if we’ll see another super-tough smartwatch join the lineup. For now, the certifications of the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic are definitely something to keep an eye on.
