Summary

  • Some Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra camera rings are falling off.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra owners shared concerns on social media, though skepticism was rife.
  • YouTuber JerryRigEverything had previously mentioned the glued camera rings as being a potential weakness.

The wasn’t a big upgrade from the Galaxy S24, with only a few minor changes made to sweeten up the flagship phones. One of those changes was the addition of a metal ring around the rear camera lenses, which added a stylish flair to each phone. However, it seems that decision is coming back to bite Samsung, as it’s claimed some of those rings are dropping off the Galaxy S25 Ultra model.

This report has come in from @parthosarathi_b on X (via SamMobile and Phone Arena), and while this seems to be an isolated incident, it does bring back to mind some strong warnings from certain critics when the Galaxy S25 Ultra was first released.

Customer suspects humidity may be to blame

But there are no Ringwraiths in sight, thankfully

When you own a flagship phone, the last thing you expect is for bits of it to start dropping off within a few months of owning it. Unfortunately for X user Partho, that’s exactly what happened. According to his post, the ring on the outside of his Galaxy S25 Ultra’s top camera lens has dropped off, revealing a much smaller ring underneath.

It’s assumed the camera still functions fine, as the ring is entirely cosmetic, but it’s still not ideal. Samsung reached out to Partho immediately, while other social media users were quick to comment on the mishap. One shared his fallen ring, but others were quick to point out what looked like damage to other camera rings, suspecting a fall or other hazard was to blame for the problem. Partho replied quickly, stating that the “damage” was actually leftover glue from a camera lens protector that had previously been applied — which begs the question whether this was part of the reason for the ring falling off. For his part, Partho believes humidity is to blame.

Whatever the reason, this is actually something that was predicted months ago by YouTuber JerryRigEverything.

As mentioned by Jerry in the video above, the camera rings are simply glued into place, and while he didn’t believe they were likely to fall off by themselves, he still found it warranted some skepticism. Frankly, he’s right. The S25 Ultra is a $1,300 device, and you’d expect more than a little bit of glue to hold cosmetic elements in place. That said, there aren’t that many reports of this happening, and most owners report their phones are fine, so perhaps Samsung was right to save costs with a dab of glue.
