Samsung Galaxy A56: Ultimate Buyer’s Guide

The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G arrived in March 2025 along with two of its siblings, the Galaxy A26 5G and Galaxy A36 5G. This smartphone is the most powerful in the series, even though it’s just a mid-range smartphone. It’s aimed at consumers who don’t require flagship smartphones like devices from the Galaxy S25 series and users who are not interested in foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The Galaxy A56 does come with a solid spec sheet, which we’ll talk about in a second, and it also has a nice design. Samsung wanted to create a nice-looking smartphone that will appeal to consumers while keeping the price in check. Granted, the Galaxy A56 is not exactly cheap, but it’s not expensive either, more on that soon. Let’s get down to specs, and then we’ll move to various other sections.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 specs

The Samsung Galaxy A56 is a mid-range smartphone, and such are its specifications. The phone is fueled by the Samsung Exynos 1580 processor. That chip is combined with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Do note that storage expansion is not available, though, and that some markets could have different RAM and storage configurations. In the US, the phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage only. No other options are available.

A 6.7-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display is used here. The display is flat, and it supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Android 15 comes pre-installed on the phone, along with Samsung’s One UI 7 skin. A 5,000mAh battery sits on the inside of the phone, while the device supports 45W charging. Wireless charging is not supported here. The device is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance, though.

Samsung did promise 6 years of Android OS and security updates for the device. That’s not bad at all, considering this is a mid-range handset. Now, in regards to cameras. There are three located on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture) and a 5-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture). There is also a 12-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture) included here.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 measures 162.2 x 77.5 x 7.4mm and weighs 198 grams. It comes in four colors: Awesome Graphite, Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Olive, and Awesome Pink.

How much does the Samsung Galaxy A56 cost?

The Samsung Galaxy A56 is not exactly cheap, but it’s not pricey either. Samsung opted for a $499.99 price tag for the phone, at least in the US. This is for an 8GB RAM model with 128GB of storage, as that’s the only model available in the States. Other markets could have different models and do have different price tags, so keep that in mind.

Where can I buy the Samsung Galaxy A56?

Chances are you’ll be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy A56 at all of the usual places in the US. That goes for both the carriers and the retailers, which is great news, as the Galaxy A55 was not available in the States at all. A detailed breakdown was not announced by the company, though, so we can’t be sure. What we do know is that it will be available directly from Samsung and from major retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy. We still don’t know when exactly will it go on sale, though.

What carriers does it work on?

Chances are that the Samsung Galaxy A56 will be compatible with all US carriers. The details have not been officially announced, however, so we cannot know for sure. Its predecessor, the Galaxy A55, was not available in the US at all, but that will not be the case with the Galaxy A56. Based on other devices from Samsung, chances are you won’t have any issues with carrier compatibility once the device becomes available.

What colors does the Samsung Galaxy A56 come in?

Samsung has announced four different color options for the Galaxy A56. The device is coming in Awesome Graphite, Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Olive, and Awesome Pink color options. These colors were announced globally, including the US, so chances are they’ll all be available in most markets at least. You can check them all out below.

What new upgrades does the Samsung Galaxy A56 have over the Samsung Galaxy A55?

The Samsung Galaxy A56 arrived almost exactly a year after the Galaxy A55. It does bring some improvements to the table, though nothing mind-blowing. We’ll go through some of them below, and some of the phone’s features in general. So, let’s get to it.

More immersive display

The Samsung Galaxy A56 did not get a boost in terms of display resolution, but the display is now more immersive. Why do I say that? Well, the bezels are a bit thinner, while the display does get a bit brighter. On top of that, it’s a little bit bigger in comparison too.

SoC bump

The Galaxy A56 is fueled by the Samsung Exynos 1580 processor. That is a newer 4nm processor than the Exynos 1480 included in the Galaxy A55. The Exynos 1580, as its name indicates, is a successor to that chip.

Faster charging

Last year’s model offered 25W wired charging, while this year’s model comes with 45W wired charging. That’s a nice improvement, though the device still doesn’t offer wireless charging at all. They have identical batteries, by the way, a 5,000mAh unit sits inside both phones.

Great software support

Samsung promised great software support for the Galaxy A56. The device will be getting updates for 6 years. To be more exact, Samsung promised six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates.

Sleeker design

This one is arguable, but… we do believe the Galaxy A56 does look better. Not only does it have thinner bezels around the display, and it looks better from the front, but that single camera island on the back is a better call too. It may not look better to some, but at least you won’t have to wipe off dirt around each camera sensor separately.

What cases are available for the Samsung Galaxy A56?

Samsung still did not list the Galaxy A56 on its official websites, well, at least the ones we checked out, including the one in the US. So, there are also no official accessories listed either, we’ll have to wait and see if Samsung will offer some… and it almost certainly will.

Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy A56?

The Samsung Galaxy A56 does bring some improvements over its predecessor, but not much, to be quite honest. It is a bit more powerful, and it does look sleeker, plus it offers faster charging. The thing is, the camera hardware remained the same, plus it’s not a huge jump in the general sense of things. If you already own the Galaxy A55, which is not the case for those of you in the US, you may want to keep it. If you’re coming off of an older Galaxy A device, this upgrade may be worth your while.
