Samsung makes pretty awesome smartphones. The recently launched Galaxy S25 series is a prime example of that, where the handset showcases the latest and best technology we can expect in a smartphone today. However, Samsung also makes pretty great value-for-money mid-range handsets. If you’re after a smartphone that’s easier on the wallet, then a recent sighting at the FCC for the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G could be exciting news.

FCC sighting

According to a report from MySmartPrice, the publication has spotted the Galaxy A56 5G at the FCC with the SM-A566E/DS model number. The FCC listing does not mention the exact specs of the phone, but it does confirm some of the connectivity options we can expect. This includes GSM, WCDMA, LTE FDD, and 5G.

The supported 5G bands include n1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41, 66, 77, and 78. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth, GNSS, NFC, and WiFi (802.11.b/g/n/a/ac/ax). Other bits of interesting information revealed in the FCC listing are the charging speeds of the phone, which is said to be rated at 45W of fast charging.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed when the phone will launch. However, a listing on the FCC suggests that it could be close. Companies hoping to sell their electronic gadgets in the US must ensure they gain FCC approval. This is usually a step or two before it launches. Hopefully, Samsung will have something official to share soon.

What we can expect

The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is the successor to 2024’s Galaxy A55. It will see an upgrade in its hardware, but users can also look forward to a slight redesign.

We obtained exclusive Galaxy A56 5G renders in November 2024. The front of the phone doesn’t look too different from its predecessor. However, it will come with a redesigned camera module on the back.

The phone will feature flat edges all around except for on the right. Samsung calls this the “Key Island” where the volume and power buttons are located. It is slightly raised to create an anchor for your thumb, so finding the relevant buttons will be easier.

In terms of hardware, the FCC listing does not mention what kind of chipset or how much RAM will come to the Galaxy A56 5G. However, based on previous leaks, we can expect the use of the Exynos 1580. It will come in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, with 128GB or 256GB storage options.

It will sport a Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple camera setup on the back consisting of 50MP, 12MP, and 5MP cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery.
