Samsung Brings Over 155 Philips Hue Products To SmartThings, Expanding Its Smart Home Ecosystem

Samsung is announcing today, that Philips Hue has over 155 lighting products that are listed as Works with SmartThings (WWST). The company used the SmartThings Developer Center, including the Certification by Similarity program, which allowed Philips Hue to easily certify all of their products. This allows seamless connectivity across a wider range of smart home product categories. And now with Philips Hue on-board, SmartThings users have an even larger selection of products to use in their home.
After products are certified with Works with SmartThings, the company can co-market and provide go-to-market benefits for its partners. This includes showcasing the products in the SmartThings app, or online with retail purchase links. As well as events to help promote the brand, and make it more recognizable.
Philips Hue’s Director of Smart Home Partnerships, Winny Fong said, “SmartThings has been a key partner for us and we are excited about the opportunity to add our latest model lineup to the Works with SmartThings ecosystem. We can’t wait for users to enhance their smart homes with Philips Hue and SmartThings.”
The Works with SmartThings program is vital to smaller brands
In the world of smart home products, there are a number of smaller brands out there that may not have the brand visibility or budget to be as visible as larger names like Philips Hue. And that’s where the Works with SmartThings program can really pay dividends. Not only does it make it easier to control your products all from a specific platform, but it also helps promote these products.
As mentioned already, within the Works with SmartThings program, brands are able to get added recognition with banners in the SmartThings app and on the website. Along with links to purchase the products from retailers. This is visibility that the brand may not have received otherwise. Keep in mind that Samsung’s SmartThings have over 285 million users globally. That’s not a small audience.
