new Roku Streaming Stick Devices 2025 in living room

Summary

  • Roku announced its new Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus.
  • The Streaming Stick delivers content at 1080p, while the Streaming Stick Plus does it in 4K.
  • The sticks are more compact and powerful, and the starting price is set to just $30.

Roku was one of the first streaming devices to market, providing easy access to Netflix and other streaming services. And while the device options used to be pretty limited, there’s now a slew of choices in 2025. Of course, the competition is pretty tough in the space, but Roku has managed to maintain its position as one of the leaders in the segment.

Say goodbye to cable, say hello to apps

Today, the brand has announced two new products for the year, the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus (via 9to5Google). These new devices are available to purchase, coming in at $29.99 and $39.99 respectively. The products will be the new basic offerings from the brand, giving users a better way to experience Roku in 1080p and 4K.

Sleek, powerful, and affordable

The Roku Streaming Stick is going to be the most accessible model in the current lineup, providing an entry-level stick that still delivers when it comes to performance and features. You get 1080p streaming, along with a voice remote, and access to Roku’s free streaming channels. The Roku Streaming Stick Plus offers much of the same, but ups the resolution to 4K and offers support for HDR.

Compared to previous streaming sticks from the company, these devices are much smaller, which means they are now even easier to take with you on the go. This makes it possible to take your Roku with you on vacation, or to a friend’s house, plug it in and start streaming all your favorites without having to go through a complicated setup process.

Of course, Roku still offers its more premium streaming devices as well if you need more features, like Dolby Vision, or a beefier remote that’s backlit and rechargeable. But for most people, the new Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus should be more than enough. Plus, you get the same interface and software features with each model.

Both streaming sticks are now available for preorder from Roku direct and will be available starting on May 6, 2025. They should also become available from other retailers as well in the near future when they are officially released.
