Pixel’s At A Glance Widget Could Soon Help To Keep An Eye On Your Finances

Summary
- Android offers various widgets, including the Google app’s “At a Glance” for general information. Pixel phones have an exclusive, non-removable “At a Glance” implementation called SmartSpace, integrated into the Pixel Launcher.
- Pixel’s SmartSpace currently displays 19 categories of contextual information sourced from integrated apps and offers more customization than the standard Google app widget.
- Evidence within the Android System Intelligence app suggests Google is developing two new Pixel-exclusive “At a Glance” features: “Finance Recap,” potentially showing market summaries, and “Sports,” which has been in development for some time.
Some of the best widgets available on Android devices are powered by apps that offer them. I, for one, can not function without the 4×1 Search widget on my phone’s home screen, especially since it gained custom shortcuts.
The Google app also offers a handy ‘At a Glance’ widget that offers quick access to key information like the day, date, weather and weather alerts, upcoming events, and more. It is generally available across all Android devices, provided they have the Google app installed. Pixel phones, however, have a dedicated At a Glance implementation (SmartSpace) that’s powered by the Pixel launcher, omnipresent on the lock and home screen.

Pixel Launcher’s implementation isn’t connected to the Google app, and unlike the widely-available widget, it can not be deleted. It sources data to highlight right from integrated apps, and as of right now, it can show 19 different categories of contextual information. These include:
Weather | Air quality |
Alerts | Earthquake alert |
Upcoming | Work profile |
Food and household orders | Package delivery |
Commute | Time to Leave |
Ridesharing | Travel |
Fitness | Safety check |
Timer & stopwatch | Connected devices |
Cross Device Timer | Doorbell |
Flashlight |
Pixel’s At a Glance already offers way more customization options than the Google app’s implementation, and it looks like the tech giant intends to further differentiate the two by adding two more Pixel-exclusive customization options.

At a Glance, despite being a Pixel Launcher feature, relies on Android System Intelligence for most of its functionality, the same system component that also powers other Pixel features like Now Playing, Live Captions, Smart Actions in notifications, and more.
The app just rolled out its latest v.25 build, and according to the folks over at Android Authority, updated app code strings suggest that a finance-related At a Glance integration could be next.
Unearthed strings suggest that the feature would be a ‘recap’ of ‘finance information,’ which could suggest that it only triggers after US markets close (4PM EST), potentially highlighting key indexes and the biggest winners and losers of the day. Alternatively, the new customization option could function similarly to the Google app’s dedicated Finance widget, allowing users to create their custom watchlist.
The other At a Glance customization option still in development is ‘Sports.’ First spotted all the way back in November 2024 with v.13 of the System Intelligence app, Sports still hasn’t made its way to SmartSpace, but it does show up alongside Finance as a toggle within the activated UI.
