Summary

  • Pixel VIPs widget has gone live for some Pixel owners.
  • The widget shows key contacts’ info on the home screen, including real-time location and recent activity.
  • Contacts marked as VIPs can bypass Do Not Disturb, ensuring you never miss an important moment.

A couple of weeks ago, a Pixel-exclusive widget — Pixel VIPs — appeared in a leaked Google dogfood app. At the time, many users assumed Google would release the widget alongside the Pixel 10 later this year. But it seems the company does not intend to wait that long, as it has already started pushing the widget live to Pixel owners.

Several Pixel owners on Reddit report (2) receiving an unexpected update for Pixel VIPs through the Play Store. The widget surfaces your important contacts on the home screen, showing their last call, message — from Google Messages and WhatsApp — and real-time location (if shared) in a map view.

Other options include asking them to share their location, get weather and local time of a VIP contact based on their saved address, add notes, and receive suggestions for things to do with them based on your preferences. Calls and messages from VIP contacts can bypass Do Not Disturb mode as well.

Stay connected to the people who matter most and never miss a moment from them.

Quickly and easily connect with the people who matter most to you. See your last call and message with them, their real-time location, activity suggestions and more. Your VIPs can also bypass Do Not Disturb, so you never miss a moment.

You can mark up to eight contacts as VIPs. They will show up at the top of the Favorites section in the Contacts app. A “VIP” label will also appear next to people marked as VIP in the Contacts app.

Since Pixel VIPs is not a standalone app, it will not appear on your phone’s app drawer after you install the update. Instead, you must access it through the widget picker or from the Contacts app.

The Pixel VIPs widget is showing up for Pixel owners running the stable Android 15 build. You can try your luck if your Pixel is running Android 16 beta, but it’s likely not to work. You can also try accessing the Play Store listing directly.

Google could officially announce the rollout of Pixel VIPs later today as part of the June 2025 Feature Drop for Pixels later today.
