Pixel Launcher Search Bar Gets New Google ‘G’ Logo With Android 16 QPR1 Beta

One small tweak in Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 sees the new Google ‘G’ logo come to the Pixel Launcher search bar.

The new gradient logo that removes the hard distinction between the red, yellow, green, and blue was introduced last month with a Google app update. After that icon, the Search homescreen widget was refreshed, with the web favicon and AI Mode similarly updated.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 introduces the new Google logo to the Pixel Launcher search bar. The ‘G’ — which you can tap to open the Discover feed — shrinks down a bit, especially when compared to the microphone and Lens shortcuts at the right. This new gradient style also applies to the Dynamic Color Themed icon version.

This updated logo is also present at the top of the app drawer, with Google fixing how the Themed icon version in Beta 1 always appeared.

It remains to be seen whether the Pixel Launcher bar will eventually take after the redesigned Search homescreen widget from the Google app. That places the search field in another container, with support for a custom shortcut at the right. At the moment, the AI Mode button that Google is rolling out appears to the left of voice search.
