Pixel 9a Reportedly Doesn’t Come With Free Gemini Advanced

Google’s upcoming Pixel 9a is shaping up to be a solid affordable Pixel device, but according to a new leak, it won’t come with the free Gemini Advanced perks that are included with other Pixel devices.

AI has become the central selling point of Pixel phones, with Google handing out several months of Gemini Advanced with even the most affordable Pixel 9 release (one year for the Pro models). However, this apparently won’t be true of the upcoming Pixel 9a.

A report from Android Headlines claims to reveal Google’s “freebies” for the Pixel 9a, including free Fitbit Premium for 6 months and YouTube Premium free for 3 months. You’ll also get 3 months of free Google One storage, making this the exact same offer as the Pixel 8a currently has.

The Google One perk, though, is the 100GB plan, meaning that not only are you getting less free storage and getting it for a shorter period of time, but you’re not getting any Gemini upgrades with it. Gemini Advanced is included in Google One, but only in the “AI Premium” plan which also has 2TB of storage.

Matching the Pixel 8a’s offer isn’t necessarily surprising, especially as Pixel 9a’s price isn’t going up, but Google’s increased focus on AI features certainly would have set the foundation for a Gemini Advanced freebie with the Pixel 9a.
