Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S24+: Design

You can notice that these two phones are related just by looking at that. They are still considerably different in terms of design, however. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is made out of titanium and glass. The Galaxy S24+ uses aluminum and glass in its build. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has sharper corners compared to its sibling, while both devices include a centered display camera hole on the front.

The bezels are very slim on both devices and also uniform. The frame is flat all around on both of these devices. The power/lock and volume up and down buttons are located on the right-hand side. The placement is very similar on the two devices. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also has an S Pen stylus which is docked in the bottom-left corner of the device. There are no buttons on the left-hand side, on either phone.

If we flip them around, you’ll see that on both phones, the cameras protrude directly from the backplate. Neither phone has a dedicated camera island. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has five protrusions on the back, four of which are reserved for its cameras. The Galaxy S24+ has three, and all of thoes are resereved for the phone’s cameras. The backplate is flat on both smartphones, for the most part.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra does have a larger display, and it’s taller, wider, and thicker than the Galaxy S24+. It is also around 22 grams heavier than its sibling. Both of these phones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S24+: Display

HDR10+ content is supported, and the peak display brightness is 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 92%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440. That panel is also flat, and it also supports an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 91%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sits on top of the display to protect it.

Both of these displays are great. They are vivid, have great viewing angles, and are more than sharp enough. The touch response is also good on both of them, while the blacks are as deep as you’d expect them to be. The Galaxy S25 Ultra does have one major advantage, however. The Gorilla Armor 2 fights glare like no other display protection, it’s a night and day difference in this case.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S24+: Performance

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip fuels the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That is a 3nm processor and an overclocked variant of the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It is the most powerful chip Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. It’s paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, while the company is also using UFS 4.0 flash storage here.

The Galaxy S24+, on the flip side, is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. That is a 4nm chip and also an overclocked variant of the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. It was the company’s flagship chip in 2024. In this smartphone it is partnered with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while Samsung also uses UFS 4.0 flash storage. Do note that the Exynos 2400 model of the phone is also available in Europe, but we’ve used the Snapdragon variant. The storage is not expandable in either one of these two phones.

Both devices offer great performance, actually. Yes, the Galaxy S24+ is a year older, but its performance is still top-notch. That actually goes for both day-to-day use and gaming. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is a bit snappier when compared side-by-side, but it’s not something that’ll bother you. Both devices handle gaming easily, that goes for truly demanding games as well, so no worries there.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S24+: Battery

The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery on the inside. The Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, has a 4,900mAh battery. It’s not a big difference, especially if you note that the Galaxy S24+ has a smaller display to work with. Both smartphones do offer great battery life, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra does pull ahead. It can last longer than the Galaxy S24+, but both phones will provide more than enough juice for most people.

With the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we’ve been able to reach some truly high screen-on times. We’ve even managed to get to 10 hours of screen-on time, on more than one ocassion. The Galaxy S24+ does not go that high, but it was not tha far behind either. If you throw gaming into the equation, things do change, drastically, of course. So, your mileage will vary, as your usage will be different.

When it comes to charging, both phones support 45W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has Qi2 Ready wireless charging. You’ll need a Qi2 charging accessory in order to take advantage of it. Both of these phones take about an hour to fully charge. It’s also worth noting that neither of them comes with a charger in the retail box, unfortunately.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy S24+: Cameras

As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has one extra camera on the back. It includes a 200-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch sensor size), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV), a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.52-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom), and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.52-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).

The Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, comes with a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size), a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 120-degree FoV), and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.94-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom). The Galaxy S25 Ultra does offer better camera hardware. And yes, the images that it can provide do overshadow what the Galaxy S24+ offers.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra images from the main camera usually have more detail in comparison, while that camera also does a better job in low light. The colors do end up oversatruated from time to time, but that’s more of an issue on the Galaxy S24+. The Galaxy S25 Ultra does a lot better job in high-zoom ranges, while it also does a better job up to 3x, even in low light. Even the phone’s ultrawide camera performs better in basically all lighting situations. The Galaxy S25 Ultra does overshadow the Galaxy S24+ in every way, camera-wise.

Audio

There are stereo speakers included on both of these smartphones. The ones on the Galaxy S25 Ultra are technically slightly louder, but that’s not really something you’ll easily notice. The difference is minimal. The sound quality they provide is really good, though, on both ends.

There is no audio jack on either phone, however. So you’ll need to use their Type-C ports if you’d like to connect your wired headphones. If you’d prefer to go wireless, Bluetooth 5.4 is supported on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, while the Galaxy S24+ supports Bluetooth 5.3.
