Phone Comparisons: Motorola Razr 2025 Vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Specs

The Motorola Razr 2025 is one of the company’s latest flip phones. This is the base model, there are two more powerful variants announced at the same time. In this article, however, we’ll be comparing this base model with the offering from Samsung. In other words, we’ll be comparing the Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 specs. Two flip phones are on the agenda today.

These two phones do have some similarities. They even look somewhat similar until the cover display powers on. Before we get into anything, do note that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the more expensive device here. It is a high-end device, while the Razr 2025 is more oriented towards being a budget flip phone. Its ‘Ultra’ sibling is a different story. With that being said, let’s get down to it, shall we?

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Design

These two devices are somewhat similar in terms of size, though the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the smaller device. It has smaller displays, and it’s a bit shorter, narrower, and thinner as well. It has a similar weight to the Motorola Razr 2025, though, it’s only 1 gram lighter. The two phones have similar corner curvature, and both fold right down the middle. Even their screen-to-body ratio (for the main display) is very similar, which makes them look rather similar from the front, when unfolded.

You’ll notice a centered display camera hole on both main displays, it’s centered up top. Both devices include their physical buttons on the right-hand side. When unfolded, the bottom key is the power key, when folded, it’s the other way around. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a flat frame all around, while that’s not the case with the Motorola Razr 2025. The frame on that phone is slightly rounded.

If we flip them around, you’ll notice that both have horizontally-aligned cameras in the top-left corner (when unfolded). Those cameras are in the bottom-left corner when the devices are folded, of course. The difference is that the cameras are inside the cover display on the Razr 2025, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 keeps them outside of the cover display. Samsung has the so-called folder-type cover display on the back. It’s also a bit smaller in comparison. Both phones do have two cameras, though, and their positioning is very similar.

The Motorola Razr 2025 is made out of aluminum and eco leather, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 combines aluminum and glass. Both smartphones are IP48 certified. The Razr 2025, despite being larger, is easier to use, as it has a far more grippy backplate.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Display

Each of these phones has two displays, of course. The Motorola Razr 2025 includes a 6.9-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED main display. That panel can project up to 1 billion colors, and it has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness here is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 85%, while the resolution is 2640 x 1080. The cover display measures 3.6 inches, and it’s an AMOLED panel. It also supports up to 1 billion colors, HDR10+, and it has a 90Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is 1,700 nits, and the resolution is 1066 x 1056. The Gorilla Glass Victus protects this panel.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. It has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and HDR10+ content is supported. The peak brightness is 2,600 nits, while the screen-to-body ratio is at around 85%. The resolution this display offers is 2640 x 1080. The cover display is a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness is 1,600 nits, while the resolution is 748 x 720. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects it.

All of these displays are good, but the Motorola Razr 2025 does have several advantages in the display department. While all displays are vivid and have good viewing angles, the Razr 2025 has the brightness advantage on the main panel, and both refresh rate and resolution advantages on the cover display. Granted, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has slightly better display protection on the cover panel.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Performance

The Motorola Razr 2025 is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor. That is a 4nm chip, and a mid-range offering for MediaTek. It’s paired with 8GB of RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is fueled by the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, which is also a 4nm processor. It’s paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. Neither phone supports storage expansion.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has the advantage across the board in terms of performance-related hardware. It has a notably more powerful chip, faster RAM, and faster storage. That is to be expected considering the price difference between the two phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a considerably pricier device. Our comparison with the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is coming, that will be a more balanced comparison for sure.

In any case, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 does offer better performance here, in comparison. That is to be expected, and that is what you’ll be getting. We didn’t really review the Razr 2025 just yet, but chances are it will offer similar performance to its predecessor, due to similarities in hardware. That phone did not really shine in the performance department due to frequent stutters. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 offers great performance, and if the Razr 2025 is anything like the Razr 2024, and it probably will be due to hardware similarities, it will be inferior. That much is to be expected, though.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Battery

There is a 4,500mAh battery inside the Motorola Razr 2025. The Galaxy Z Flip 6, on the other hand, has a 4,000mAh battery. As already mentioned, we have not reviewed the Motorola Razr 2025 just yet, but that phone has a larger battery than the Razr 2024, and it has almost identical performance-related hardware. We do expect it to offer better battery life, and even the Razr 2024 is better in the battery life department than the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

In other words, we do expect the Motorola Razr 2025 to outshine the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in terms of battery endurance. The difference probably won’t be monumental, but still, it’s worth noting. We’ll know more once we review the device, though. Even the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be enough for most people to get through the day without needing to charge it. It offers good battery life, but not great.

When it comes to charging, the Motorola Razr 2025 supports 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Razr 2025 will charge up in around an hour, a bit over an hour. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 takes almost an hour and 40 minutes in order to fully charge. Neither phone ships with a charger included in the retail box, though.

Motorola Razr 2025 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Cameras

The Motorola Razr 2025 features two cameras on the back. It has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.95-inch sensor size) and a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.0-inch sensor size, 120-degree FoV). The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 also includes two of them on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.57-inch sensor size) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV).

AH Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Review (16)

In all honesty, neither one of these two smartphones will impress in terms of camera quality. They both offer a good camera experience, but nowhere close to what you’d get with flagship smartphones. We didn’t really have much time with the Motorola Razr 2025 just yet, but based on what we’ve seen from its sibling, which has an identical camera setup, the pictures are okay, but nothing more than that. They’re average.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 does offer enough details in its shots, but it tends to oversaturate images at times. HDR shots can also look a bit odd because of Samsung’s processing. Overall, though, the images do look good, even in low light. Once again, don’t expect flagship-level quality. Ultrawide cameras on both phones are a different story, they’re visibly inferior to the main units.

Audio

Both of these phones include stereo speakers. The loudness both of them can provide is good, but not the best we’ve seen, not even close. Still, it’s going to be more than enough for most people, while the audio output is good.

There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. You can opt to connect your wired headphones via their Type-C ports, though. Alternatively, both smartphones support Bluetooth. The Motorola Razr 2025 offers Bluetooth 5.4 support, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has Bluetooth 5.3 on offer.
