OnePlus 13R Packs A Punch Without Breaking The Bank

Alongside the OnePlus 13 today, the OnePlus 13R was also announced. This is the company’s cheaper flagship offering with last year’s processor, and without wireless charging. Allowing it to come in at a much lower price tag – starting at just $599.

The OnePlus 13R does sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6.77-inch 120Hz display with 4,500 nits of peak brightness, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This is all powered by a massive 6,000mAh capacity battery. Meaning that the battery on the OnePlus 13R is going to last a very long time. And when it does come time to charge, there is support for 80W charging (100W in Europe), and the charger is still in the box.

OnePlus 13R does share the same design language as the OnePlus 13, complete with the flat sides, however it does not sport the quad-curved display. So if you’re looking for something with a completely flat display, the OnePlus 13R is going to be the way to go. It is also the first OnePlus phone to sport Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i, which makes it great for resisting scratches.

The company is not skimping on the cameras this year either, and is also not including a macro camera, finally! For the OnePlus 13R, we’re looking at a 50-megapixel main sensor, 50-megapixel telephoto and a 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor.

MagSafe without wireless charging?

That’s right. The OnePlus 13R does not have wireless charging, but with the correct case, it does support MagSafe. With the iconic Sandstone case that OnePlus is selling for the 13R (available for $25), it does support MagSafe. As it does have the magnet inside. However, that does mean that MagSafe chargers will not work, but other MagSafe accessories like wallets, tripods and other things, will work.

This was done to mostly keep it in-line with what the OnePlus 13 supports, while also working to keep the price of the OenPlus 13R down.

Pricing and Availability

As mentioned already, the OnePlus 13R will be priced at $599. That is a $100 price increase over last year’s model, but still a really compelling price point here. The OnePlus 13R is up for pre-orders today and will start shipping next week. This year, OnePlus is only offering the 13R in a single SKU, which is the 12GB/256GB model. But it does come in two colors: Nebula Noir and Astral Trail.
