Through a new update, OnePlus 13 owners can enjoy better low-light photos and videos in the Instagram app with the addition of Night Mode integration.
Last year, Google detailed how Instagram was taking advantage of Android’s Camera Extensions API to improve low-light photos and videos captured through the app rather than the native camera app. At the time, the feature was only available on select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones.
Now, OnePlus is also adding support.
Through the latest Instagram for Android updates, OnePlus 13 owners can now use “Night Mode” for better low-light performance through the Instagram camera. This kicks in automatically with a moon icon showing when the mode is active.
Building on the beloved Night Mode in our native camera, which uses multi-frame processing to brighten shots and reduce noise, we’ve teamed up with Instagram to bring this game-changing tool directly to their in-app camera. No more switching apps or compromising on quality when posting to Stories or feeds.
Here’s how it works for OnePlus 13 users:
- Open Instagram’s camera (make sure you’re on the latest app version!).
- When the scene gets dim, Night Mode kicks in automatically, look for the moon icon 🌙 at the top.
- Tap the shutter, hold steady for a few seconds, and let the magic happen.
- Voilà! A crisp, vibrant photo or Story-ready clip, even in the dark.
