One UI 7 is turning out to be one of Samsung’s most unusual releases. Over the past few years, the company has built a reputation for timely rolling out new versions of Android for its flagship phones. However, users of the Galaxy S24 series will likely have to wait even longer to receive One UI 7.0.
Galaxy S24 owners may have to wait longer than expected to receive One UI 7.0
Reliable tipster Ice Universe has revealed on X/Twitter that Samsung is close to releasing One UI 7 beta 4. This update could bring, as its most notable change, a fix to a bug that affected the color calibration of the devices’ displays. However, the important thing here is that the same tipster claims that the stable rollout of the firmware “is still a long way off.”
This is not the first time we have heard about how relatively far away the stable rollout of One UI 7 is for the Galaxy S24 lineup. Tarun Vats, another tipster, said last month that Samsung will begin rolling out sometime between late February and early March. At the current rate, it’s quite likely that the suggested timeline will be met. It’s possible that One UI 7 beta 4 will be the last update in the beta program for S24 models. Still, there are usually a few weeks (at least a couple or three) between each release. Plus, there’s always the chance that a last-minute bug could crop up that could delay things even further.
So, if you own any of the Galaxy S flagship phones from last year, it’s best to be patient. The development of One UI 7 seems to be particularly laborious. The company wants the update to be a turning point; the biggest in years in terms of UI changes. Only those lucky enough to have already received their preordered Galaxy S25 unit can say whether the wait will be worth it or not.
One UI 7.1 reportedly also in development
Interestingly, some new options may take even longer to arrive. A report from last year suggested that a later update, called One UI 7.1, will bring incredible new features, while One UI 7.0 will focus on implementing the aesthetic changes. Anyway, One UI 7 already brings more Galaxy AI features and many additional customization options, plus redesigned system apps.
